The Inside

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14

Everyone has – to some degree – a past they’re ashamed of, a future they’re afraid of, and a present they have no idea what to do about. Sometimes it can feel as if you hardly know yourself. As a friend of mine puts it, “While it is important to know as much about yourself as possible, there are going to be new things you will discover about yourself in any new relationship, no matter if it’s a dating thing, a friend, or a family member.”

Have you ever met a guy or a girl and, as you got to know them better over time, they became even more attractive? It was because their insides matched their outside. He doesn’t just talk about God, but he lives it out by his active, she doesn’t just love God, but loves others as well. Even after you’ve been in a relationship for a log time, there’s still an opportunity to learn more about your significant other. What you find attractive about him or her. Their strengths and weaknesses. And what makes them grow.

When you’re showing off your true self in a relationship, it’s easier for others to get to know you and it makes God happy! He knows when you sit down and stand up. He knows your thoughts. He knows everything you do and say before you even say it (Psalm 139: 1-6). The truth is – you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Inside and out. How do you celebrate your partner?

Prayer: Thank you for the ability to make you proud by the way I live out my relationships. Help me to celebrate my relationships because we are all created in your image. Amen.
